Dr. Francis, Chairman of the Board
Dr. Norman C. Francis is a founding director of the bank and has served as its Chairman since the bank's inception in 1972. He is also President of Xavier University, a position he has held since 1968. Under His dynamic leadership, the university has more than tripled its enrollment, broadened its curriculum, expanded its campus, and received national attention for its award winning academic initiatives and programs.
Alden J. McDonald Jr., President and CEO
Mr. McDonald, President and CEO, has held his current position since the bank's inception in 1972, making him the longest tenured African-American financial executive in the country. With nearly 45 years of experience in the banking industry, Mr. McDonald's strategic vision and hard work have been crucial to the success of the bank. Under his leadership, the bank's assets have grown from a mere $2 million in 1972 to over $453 million currently.
Leroy Watts, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Watts manages all accounting and information systems operations, including financial reporting, funding and internal controls. He manages the bank's investment portfolio of $138 million on a total return basis. He is also responsible for managing the bank's liquidity position and is an Assets and Liability Committee member responsible for preparing financial analysis and recommending appropriate courses of action to ensure compliance with interest rate risk policy. Most recently, Mr. Watts has served as Vice President and Controller at Community Bank of Lawndale and Senior Vice President and CEO of Lincoln Park Savings Bank in Chicago, Illinois.
Howard Brooks, Executive Vice President
Mr. Brooks is Executive Vice President and manager of lending at Liberty Bank and Trust Company. He comes to Liberty with extensive experience in finance, banking and strategic planning with over 32 years in the banking industry. His roles including President/CEO of United Bank and Trust Company, Senior Vice President and Chief Lending Officer at Dryades Savings Bank.
Rhonda M. McMillan, Senior Vice President and Chief Credit Officer
Ms. McMillan is responsible for credit administration, mortgage operations, Visa and risk management for Liberty. She has an MBA in Finance from Clark Atlanta University and a graduate degree in banking from Southern Methodist University's Southwestern Graduate School of Banking. With over 15 years in banking and credit administration, Ms. McMillan has held numerous positions within the credit administration and risk management areas.
Sidney King, Regional President, Kansas/Missouri Region
Mr. King is the Regional President for Liberty Bank's Kansas City operations and is based in Kansas City, Kansas. He obtained an accounting degree from DePaul University and achieved the accreditation of a Certified Public Accountant. During Mr. King's nearly 35 years of financial services experience he has served as President/CEO of First American Bank and Commonwealth National Bank as well as Senior Loan Officer and Marketing Director in the Independence/Drexel Bank family.
Drextel Amy, Regional President, Michigan
Mr. Amy is the President of the Michigan region and also serves as Chairman of the bank's Asset Liability Committee. Mr. Amy previously served as the President of the Michigan Banking Operations for ShoreBank and Senior Vice President of its holding company for business development. Its focus was primarily on community banking and sustainable lending activities. Prior to joining ShoreBank Mr. Amy was the Executive Director of Consumer Banking for Sterling Bank and Trust a privately owned bank in Southfield, Michigan.
Carlton G. Stephen, Vice President, Mississippi Region
Mr. Stephen manages Branch Operations, Commercial and Consumer Lending, for the Mississippi Region. Located in Jackson, Mississippi. Mr. Stephen brings 27 years of banking experience to this position. Formerly a Vice President in Commercial Lending at ShoreBank in Chicago and The First National Bank of Boston, Mr. Stephen brings a wealth of small business lending and community banking experience to the bank. Prior to coming to Liberty, Mr. Stephen created and managed the Commercial Loan Underwriting Department at Mechanics and Farmers Bank in Durham, North Carolina. Mr. Stephen is a 2007 MBA Graduate of the University of Phoenix, Raleigh Campus.
