Position Summary:
The Mortgage Loan Consultant is Responsible for originating retail mortgage loans. Sells direct to customers or solicits customers indirectly through third parties such as Realtors, Builders, and Developers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Proactively solicits new residential mortgage business and sells Liberty Bank mortgage products to meet established loan quality and production goals.
- Continually identifies, develops and maintains a quality network of business relationships that serves as a recurring source of referrals for new mortgage lending opportunities. A Mortgage Loan Consultant's network may consist of real estate professionals, builders, professional and personal contacts, as well as other valuable referral sources, and is enhanced by the Mortgage Loan Consultant's regular participation in business related development opportunities, community efforts to promote homeownership and professional organizations.
Responds to customer inquiries and referrals that are generated from both their own contacts and from other Liberty Bank business channels. Conducts interviews with prospective borrowers in order to analyze financial and credit data, determine customer financing objectives, advise customers of product/pricing policies and guidelines, and gathers any additional required information. - Ensures exceptional customer service by maintaining thorough knowledge of lending programs, policies, procedures and regulatory requirements, demonstrating a commitment to professional ethics, complying with all Federal and State compliance policies and adhering to HMDA requirements.
- Develops strong partnerships with the Retail Bank branches including tellers and Personal Bankers to promote mortgage loan originations (in footprint territories).
- Builds and maintains good relationships with customers.
- Exhibits consultative sales and promotional experience to provide recommendations based on financial analysis and acumen, product knowledge and knowledge of the customer's financial needs, goals and circumstances.
- Resolves outstanding issues in order to complete the mortgage origination.

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education/Experience:
Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or equivalent sales work experience and one to three years of experience in loan origination. Knowledge of conventional and/or government guidelines, loan processing, underwriting and/or closing procedures/federal lending regulations governing real estate lending is a plus. The ability to manage a heavy pipeline of 25 plus loans and be familiar with FHA, VA, Federal Housing, Rural Housing and HUD guidelines
Language Ability:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Math Ability:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills:
Strong computer skills including MS applications Working knowledge of CALYX Point
